Shoreside events including registration, prize-giving, Saturday margarita party, BBQ dinner and dancing will take place at the stage area of Cowichan Tribes Kil-Pah-Las beach which is located on the East side of the Ocean Grand Resort and Marina in Cowichan Bay Village. Moorage will be available at the Government Wharf in Cowichan Bay Village or elsewhere as available within Cowichan or Genoa Bay.


The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016, the prescriptions of the CYA, the PHRF Racing Rules, applicable One Design Class Rules, the Sailing Instructions and any amendments.

Eligibility and Entry:

The Cowichan Bay Regatta is an open event. Eligible boats racing in Handicap Divisions shall have a current PHRF-NW or PHRF-BC rating or a One-Design Division may be established with no less than 5 class-eligible boats. PHRF-BC ratings will be adjusted to be consistent with PHRF-NW ratings by the event Handicapper.


On-line registration will be available from the Cowichan Bay Regatta website. Please complete the on-line registration form. You will receive a copy of your registration by email and be added to the Entry List upon completion of the Registration Form. Print a copy to bring with you for registration check-in. Pre-payment using PayPal would be appreciated. See the registration page for more details. Registration check-in will be open from 1700 to 2030 hrs on Friday August 1st and from 0830 to 0900 hrs on Saturday August 2nd. All boats shall be considered entrants upon receipt of a completed entry form, certification of liability of no less than $500,000 (CDN) or $400,000 (USD) and payment of a registration fee of $60.  This fee includes one dinner ticket but does not include moorage. Additional dinner tickets will be available for purchase at the registration desk.

Racing Information:

The Sailing Instructions will be available upon registration and will be included in the skipper’s package.

Skippers meeting will be held at 1000 hrs Saturday, August 2nd  near the stage on the Cowichan Tribes Kil-Pah-Las beach.

Saturday, August 2nd - Racing will commence at 1130 hrs, weather permitting (if The Doctor is in). Courses will be sailed in and around scenic Cowichan Bay. Additional races will be sailed if possible, time and weather permitting. Different classes may have different numbers of races.

Sunday, August 3rd - Race (or races) will be sailed around the Bay commencing at 1130 hrs, weather permitting.

One Design Fleets should contact the race committee on Friday night to confirm number of entrants and discuss any requests!

Trophies shall be awarded following Sundays race after final scoring is completed.
